It is so hard to believe that I haven't posted since June 22nd! That was over two weeks ago! I keep telling my roommates that time goes by so fast over here, because it totally does! Days go by with the blink of an eye. I have not quite wrapped my head around the fact that in three weeks from now, I will be back home. I want nothing more than for time to slow down a bit so I can fully enjoy the small amount of time I have left here in England.
I do apologize for the fact that it has been so long since my last post. However, needless to say, it has been busy around here! Yesterday we said goodbye to 36 Floridians after they had spent a week with us here in Brierley Hill doing mission work with two other churches in the area as well as with a local primary school. I will tell you all about that in my next post which I will be writing on Sunday.
In this post I wanted simply to update you on a few things that happened in the week and a half or so before our mission week with the Floridians. The week of the 22nd was fairly normal, meaning it was much like the weeks that preceded it. Tuesday night us interns went to a house study at Amy and Marshall's house, one of the American missionaries living here in England. That Thursday night us interns helped out with Restore and Refresh and on Friday we helped with youth group. That Friday was the beginning of a three week series on love and relationships we have been going through with the youth. On that night we addressed the emotional differences between males and females. We split the girls and guys up and spent some time discussing things we wanted the other gender to know about our own. I felt that the night went really well and was well received by the kids!
Saturday, June 27th, was my birthday and boy was it wonderful! I felt so incredibly loved by the friends, well technically family, I have made over here. In the morning, a few of the youth kids, including Lucy, Alex, Seren, Connor and Richard, took me to a delicious crepe place for breakfast. Following that we went on a lovely hike through some of the countryside. For lunch, Lonnie came and picked up us interns and took us to a park where we had dessert and lunch with several other members from our church community. Our nighttime activity came as a complete surprise to me! My friends took me to a 1940s Big Band show at a local train station. To put it simply, I had an amazing day! My family here could not have planned a better day for me :) I have included some pictures below! The first picture is of a batch of cookies! My wonderful parents sent me a package including glow sticks, glow rings, Hello Kitty stickers (random), Finding Nemo go fish cards (also random), other random fun things and, most importantly, ingredients to make some of my Mom's famous peanut butter pudding cookies :) It was nice to have some pieces of home here in England as well as in my tummy :) The other pictures are from my actual birthday day!
On Sunday, June 28th, I lead worship for the first time at Church in the Community (CITC). I did the same this past Sunday! It has been an absolute blessing being able to lead this church community in worship thus far. It is an honor and a gift to praise God alongside the wonderful people here at CITC.
June 29th- July 2nd was normal in the sense that it included our normal Monday-Thursday activities. However, on Monday we went over to Lonnie and Rachel's house again for dinner! They have been so hospitable, welcoming and loving towards all four of us girls. They, along with so many others, have been such a blessing. Then, on Friday, the Floridians arrived. But, like I said, that's for another post :)
Until Sunday,
Cheers!
